College Students
Enhance your education and shape your health care career
MultiCare is proud to help train the next generation of health care professionals. Each year, over 1,500 college students spend time with us gaining experience in a clinical environment. We also have an award-winning RN Residency program and a long-standing Pharmacy Residency. Other departments hire students and new graduates for internships or temporary assignments as needed.
To view current residency and internship opportunities, please visit our Job Search page. You may also be interested in one of the student programs listed below.
College student rotations / fieldwork / experiential learning
These educational experiences are coordinated by the MultiCare Student Placement Department. Affiliation Agreements are required for placement consideration with the student’s associated school. Once a student is offered a placement opportunity at MultiCare, they will be required to complete Onboarding requirements via an online student portal, pass a background check and obtain current immunizations. This is to ensure a safe environment for you, our employees and our patients.

Training programs
We offer a variety of training programs to external candidates and to our current workforce. If you are looking to start or develop your career in health care, we have great programs for you!
COPE health scholars
The COPE Health Scholars program offers an immersive, hands-on experience for aspiring health professionals. Open to students and recent graduates of 2- and 4-year colleges, individuals preparing for graduate programs, and career changers, the program provides the opportunity to gain direct clinical and administrative exposure. Participants work alongside nurses, physicians and allied health professionals, becoming vital members of the patient care team while building their skills and professional networks.
Job shadowing
MultiCare offers two unique job shadowing pathways to help you explore health care careers through real-world observation. Whether you’re a volunteer curious about the field or a college student fulfilling program requirements, our opportunities are designed to give you meaningful insight into health care roles — no hands-on experience required.
- Volunteer pathway: For active MultiCare volunteers and high school students (16+); requires 60 hours of volunteer service.
-
College student pathway: For students in accredited health care programs needing shadowing hours; one-time, observation-only experience.
Volunteer opportunities
Becoming a volunteer is a great way to gain valuable experience while helping your community. High school and college students are eligible to volunteer in a variety of areas. We do require volunteers to be at least 16 years old and to commit to at least 100 hours of service.
