Belonging
Working to create a true sense of belonging for all
At MultiCare, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to live a healthy and fulfilling personal and professional life. That requires access to care and work environments free from racism, discrimination and violence. We are committed to ensuring that all patients receive high-quality, safe, compassionate and culturally responsive care. Likewise, we are dedicated to fostering a workforce that reflects the communities we serve, creating an environment where every individual feels valued and supported.
Belonging resource groups
MultiCare’s belonging resource groups (BRGs) provide meaningful spaces for employees to connect and support one another by building community, friendships, professional development and networking opportunities through shared experiences and interests.
These groups may offer activities and outreach such as cultural awareness events, book clubs, networking opportunities, mentorship programs, professional development seminars, lunch & learns, recruitment events and more.

Belonging programs
Our journey toward a more connected and supportive workplace began in 2015 with the launch of the Center for Health Equity and Wellness. Since then, we have introduced a variety of initiatives, including:
- Culturally informed care series
- Interpreter services
- Sexual orientation, gender identity and pronouns data collection
- Unconscious bias training
- Formation of a Belonging Advisory Council
Why belonging?
Belonging is a fundamental human need — the feeling of being welcomed, accepted, and supported. At MultiCare, belonging means embracing the talents, beliefs and backgrounds of our employees, patients and communities. It is our guiding principle, ensuring that every individual feels seen, heard and valued.
Patient and community programs
MultiCare has a long history of supporting the communities we serve by addressing health disparities and promoting well-being. In addition to building partnerships with like-minded organizations, we have developed impactful programs of our own, such as:
MultiCare Academy for Students in Healthcare (M.A.S.H.) Camp
Each summer, MultiCare welcomes more than 100 high school students to M.A.S.H. Camp, a program designed to inspire and support future health care professionals. We remove financial barriers by offering this experience free of charge, ensuring that students from all backgrounds can explore careers in nursing, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, and more. Through active outreach, we encourage participation from groups that have been historically underrepresented in health care fields.
Center for Health Equity and Wellness
The MultiCare Center for Health Equity and Wellness works to improve the well-being of individuals across the Pacific Northwest by identifying health challenges and partnering with communities to create meaningful solutions. Our goal is to ensure that everyone — regardless of background or circumstance — has access to the resources they need to live a healthy, thriving life.
